November 29, 2020, would have been the late Chadwick Boseman’s 44th birthday. Some of the hero’s co-stars, friends, and family posted on social media to celebrate his legacy. From the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, Lupita Nyong’o, Mark Ruffalo, and more paid tribute to the late Boseman on what would have been the Black Panther star’s birthday.

Boseman passed away earlier this year after four years of living with colon cancer. At the time, his reps  confirmed the news of his death with a post on his Twitter account, saying,

A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy. It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther.

The actor’s death shocked co-stars and fans alike because he lived with the disease in private. When he died, the country went into mourning – flags were even lowered to half-staff in South Carolina where Boseman was born and raised.
